Designing the World is one of the two opening exhibitions of the Cube design museum. The exhibition displays a collection of designs from all over the world that were meant to fulfil human needs and human ambitions. Six design museums from all over the world selected ten objects each which are illustrative of the way challenges are met to respond to human needs, such as food & drink, physical and mental wellbeing, safety and protection. By displaying these designs, ranging from historical to modern items, the exhibition offers a culturally diverse view of how people shape the world in relation to their earthly place. These items may not represent the most obvious design objects, but all of them were designed and developed to affect people's lives.
The objects were selected by: Cooper Hewitt, New York | Design Indaba, Cape Town | Design Museum London | The Mind Museum, Manilla | Museum of Applied Arts, Sydney | Cube design museum, Kerkrade
